As a huge fan of sauces, cilantro chutney tops our list for favorite Indian “sauce.” It is so delicious and versatile you can pair it with literally anything! Samosa, our Tandoori Kebabs, sandwiches/wraps, dhokla, and tikki are just some of the options. This chutney is super easy to make and will last in an airtight container in your fridge for a few days – after that the cilantro will start changing color. To keep fresh for longer, pour the chutney into an ice cube mold and stick in your freezer. Once frozen pop out the cubes and store in a freezer safe container or ziplock bag and defrost what you need.
Note: We use jalapenos but if you want to make this spicy, you can use a serrano pepper instead.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup peanuts (with skin is fine)
- 5 garlic cloves
- 2 jalapeƱos
- 3 bunches of cilantro
- 2 tsp sugar
- salt to taste (we use 1 tsp – 1.5 tsp)
- 1 lime juiced
- 1 cup water
Directions:
- Wash cilantro and cut about 2 inches off the stems. Combine all ingredients in blender or food processor.
- Blend well until smooth and taste, add any additional salt or lime juice if needed!
